God help you if you're on a lower bandwidth connection, because the client is heavily web-based without acknowledging it. Their store client is a piece of shit too. "Metro Exodus will return to Steam and on other store fronts after 14 February 2020." We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.Ī later press release we received from Deep Silver explained that the game will return to Steam a year after release. We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. The developer and publisher have assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.
Notice: Later today, sales of Metro Exodus will be discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store. Has the game been on sale on official resellers i.e Humble Bundle? What will happen with those keys? This kind of decision should be made before the game is available to purchase. Especially as the game has been on sale for a long while on steam. I like that, but it's also because GoG make an effort to do something Steam does not: Provide working versions of classic games along with a more curated marketplace. This isn't to say something like say, GoG Galaxy is bad. It won't reduce prices, increase the amount of features Steam has, etc. It'll just end up in a situation where you need a bunch of different clients installed to have the same library you could have had on Steam before people accepted things like Origin, at best it's just more work to look after the same thing.at worst, we end up paying more (Because you can't go and buy The Sims from another store now) or get hurt in other ways This is exactly the kind of thing I mean when I say that "Not all competition is good competition" and why I've questioned how good Origin, Uplay, Epic Store, etc are when they fail to provide anything that Steam doesn't already have other than bringing that exclusivity bullshit into PC gaming where it can kindly fuck off.
